Social Sciences Research and International Dialogue in a Changing Global Landscape
Prof. Yu-tzung Chang, Dean of College of Social Science, National Taiwan University
International academic exchange and dialogue drive progress in the humanities and social sciences. On June 3–4, 2025, the Empirical Studies of Conflict (ESOC) Research and Policy Conference was held in Taipei for the first time, bringing together leading scholars, experts, and policymakers from 12 regions worldwide. The event focused on pressing global security issues, offering policy insights through empirical research and knowledge sharing, while building a platform for cross-national dialogue aimed at promoting peace and development in Asia and beyond. Participants reflected diverse international backgrounds and attracted a wide audience of scholars and students. Through intensive discussions and idea exchange, scholars not only advanced their own research but also fostered interdisciplinary dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration.
