Prof. Wen-Chang Chen, President, National Taiwan University
As we approach the centennial celebration of National Taiwan University (NTU) in 2028, the University's core strategies for the next five years in academic research will prioritize advancing significant international research domains and strengthening industry-academia collaboration to drive industrial growth. These strategies aim to continually enhance research and development capabilities while fostering distinctive research. Through initiatives such as the NTU Consortia of Key Technologies and the Research Expert system, NTU is dedicated to creating a high-quality research environment and expanding international partnerships. By collaborating with globally renowned institutions and strategic partner universities, NTU has established joint research centers and laboratories to address humanity's most pressing challenges through global collective efforts.
In response to important international academic development trends, NTU has recently launched two world-class top research centers: the Ying-shih Yu International Center for History and the Chinese Humanities and the NVIDIA-NTU Artificial Intelligence Joint Research Center. Additionally, the University has introduced the Raymond Soong Chair Professorship of Distinguished Research to support Nobel Prize laureates or globally esteemed scholars to deliver lectures and collaborate with NTU researchers. Meanwhile, the NTU Royal Palm Lecture Series features individuals with outstanding achievements or international influence, broadening the global perspectives of faculty, students, and staff.
This issue of NTU Highlights outlines the research resources available to faculty, international cooperation strategies, and approaches to cultivating student research capabilities. Looking ahead, NTU will continue to expand its international influence and contribute to talent development and knowledge innovation.
