The NTU-UT Joint Research Center for LIFE_Leveraging Artificial Intelligence for Future Healthcare Excellence, jointly established by National Taiwan University and the University of Tsukuba, aims to integrate the core strengths of both institutions in AI-driven healthcare and advance cutting-edge, cross-border research in health technologies. The Center has recently achieved preliminary results in key areas including cardiovascular health, diabetes, precision oncology, and cognitive health, gradually establishing an AI-based clinical research model with potential for international scalability.
The research teams in the Center have successfully developed several AI technologies with clinical potential, including AI-based imaging analysis for coronary artery calcification risk, AI-assisted interpretation of head and neck cancer images, privacy-preserving diabetes risk prediction, and early cognitive decline detection tools. These results have been published in multiple international journals, presented at major conferences, and showcased at expos such as Cares Expo Taipei and Healthcare+ Expo Taiwan, attracting significant attention from academia, industry, and research institutions.
Through multiple reciprocal visits, research meetings, and student participation programs, the collaboration has strengthened cross-border talent development and scientific research, demonstrating NTU’s concrete achievements in innovative health technologies and international research initiatives. This ongoing partnership continues to advance Taiwan–Japan cooperation toward a new future of global smart healthcare.
