Li, Yu-Han, a second-cohort student in the trans-disciplinary bachelor degree program at NTU, has been awarded the 2025 NTU Social Devotion Special Award in recognition of his long-term commitment to education and public engagement. Through sustained educational practice, Li has emerged as a young changemaker who responds to social needs through action. Guided by his belief that “even a small action can create a significant impact for others,” he began participating in public service in the fifth grade and has since accumulated over a decade of hands-on experience.
Over the past ten years, Li has actively engaged with a wide range of social issues, including rural education, gender equality, migrant worker communities, and homelessness. These experiences have shaped his approach to education as a tool for empowerment and social participation.
Li, Yu-Han was born into a fishmongering family with significant caregiving demands—his father lives with a disability, and his mother is from Vietnam. After entering National Taiwan University, Li received support from the Fu Bell Scholarship and transferred from the Department of Drama to the Transdisciplinary Bachelor Degree Program, where he began applying cross-disciplinary thinking to educational practice.
Li has since devoted himself to educational outreach across Hualien, Yilan, New Taipei City, Yunlin, and Pingtung. Through more than 12 camp-based teaching programs, he has reached over 300 children in rural and underserved communities. His work not only helps bridge learning gaps but also transforms social issues into age-appropriate curricula, encouraging students to better understand the world around them and to engage with it more actively.
For Li, Yu-Han, receiving this award represents not only recognition but also responsibility. He believes that everyone possesses the capacity to become the change they wish to see. Looking ahead, he plans to further develop the interdisciplinary “Dreamers Project” within the program, aiming to build a sustainable talent-development and pathway system for social action and to support more young people in transforming issue exploration into meaningful, real-world impact.
