Department of Finance: The Preferred Choice for Business Students, Guided by Generations of Distinguished Faculty

Founded in 1985, the Department of Finance at NTU traces its roots to the Banking Section of the Department of Business Administration, established in 1963. Through the collective efforts of its faculty and students, the Department has consistently ranked among Taiwan's most sought-after departments within business schools. It has played a vital role in nurturing outstanding professionals in various sectors, including financial affairs, finance, banking, securities, insurance, and real estate in Taiwan. The study of finance strongly emphasizes practical application, and thus the Department collaborates with leading domestic and international financial institutions and enterprises. These partnerships offer students valuable opportunities for internships, scholarships, and corporate consultations. Moreover, the Department recruits experienced industry professionals to teach courses, enriching students' learning experiences.

The Department of Finance boasts a robust faculty, including Academician of the Academia Sinica and several individuals honored with the National Science and Technology Council's Outstanding Research Award. Recently, a faculty member published groundbreaking research in the prestigious Journal of Accounting and Economics, demonstrating pioneering causal evidence on the impact of new technology spillover on financial markets. Furthermore, faculty members actively engage in social service endeavors. Professors Kuan Chung-Ming and Liu Yi-Ju have served as chairpersons of the Council for Economic Planning and Development, Executive Yuan, with Professor Kuan previously holding the position of the 11th President of NTU.
