NTU is committed to fostering strong links between students and the professional world. In pursuit of this vision, the university collaborates closely with companies to provide career exploration opportunities, internships, and individual counseling to enhance interdisciplinary learning and teamwork and help students realize their potential. In 2023, the Office of Student Affairs Career Center launched its first for-credit course, "Get Ready for Your Career," and the "NTU interdisciplinary internship program." These innovative programs offer participating students a unique chance to learn from experienced alumni who have advanced in their respective careers. Corporate leaders, serving as mentors, generously impart their wealth of knowledge and expertise, providing students with the current state of various industries and helping develop essential skills. Every year, NTU Campus Recruitment welcomes hundreds of companies with copious job vacancies to meet with students. Combined with the company visits and interactions, the event serves as a bridge to help students make a seamless transition into the job market.
During this year's fair, Giuseppe Izzo, General Manager of STMicroelectronics Taiwan, and several other executives shared their experiences, including academic studies, domestic and international work experience, and the process of making a career change. They also emphasized the importance of language learning, communication, and networking. Students were thereby able to experience different disciplines, their diverse applications in industry, and the importance of interdisciplinary teamwork.
In 2023, the Career Center launched an innovative internship preparation course and, together with the NTU interdisciplinary internship program, invited companies to hold internship orientation sessions to help students better understand the opportunities and challenges in different industries. Students participated enthusiastically during each session.
Through self-introductions and sharing why they were interested in STMicroelectronics, attendees were able to break the ice and make the Q&A session more fluid. Gary Lin, the head of field applications engineer department, also shared his academic and career background, and students were impressed by his rich experience in domestic and overseas study in addition to conducting his own professional work.
Students visited the STMicroelectronics corporate headquarters on April 21, where several department heads participated in a discussion session to help students gain a more comprehensive understanding of its corporate culture.
