NTU HIGHLIGHTS

In the age of globalization, developing global mobility and cross-cultural communication skills is essential for future professionals. In order to enhance NTU's competence for cultivating experts in research and development and help talented individuals from Taiwan connect with the international community, the Office of International Affairs is now offering the NTU Overseas Internship Program (OIP), Taiwan's first university-level overseas internship program. OIP sends students to overseas companies, NGOs, and research institutions during the summer, incorporating an apprenticeship system in which overseas organizations assign mentors to students, allowing those who have traveled far from home to have guidance while interning outside of campus and helping them develop their future careers.

The internship component of the program focuses on developing students' practical skills and enriching their international working experience. So far, 10 companies and NGOs are offering internships through OIP, including IBM Research, Kew Gardens, and Step30, as well as laboratories at top U.S. universities such as California Institute of Technology, Washington University in St. Louis, and the University of Chicago.

NTU has also partnered with the Jewish Taiwan Cultural Association to offer the Taiwanese Students Study Tour in Israel, allowing 30 students to visit world-renowned Israeli start-up companies and NGOs, local universities, and cultural sites this summer. Through onsite visits, students had the opportunity to experience first-hand the innovative spirit of Israel as well as local culture.

In the future, the program will also encourage students to participate in service projects to enhance their ability to solve social issues, promote altruism, and allow them to contribute to human sustainability.
