Introduction to Agricultural Net-Zero Carbon Technology and Management Innovation Research Center

The main research directions of the ANZC focus on developing net-zero carbon emission technologies for agriculture, forestry, and animal husbandry. Economic benefit assessment will be conducted to improve field management strategies and assist the Ministry of Agriculture in formulating methodologies for measuring, reporting, and verifying carbon reduction and carbon sequestration, as well as for developing agricultural carbon offset and exchange mechanisms.

Concurrently, the center will integrate teaching and research resources from various fields within the College of Bioresources and Agriculture to offer courses on agricultural carbon footprint assessment and carbon-negative technologies, aiming at cultivating talent in these critical fields. The ANZC will also host international workshops and seminars on agricultural carbon-negative technologies and establish collaborative research and teaching systems with universities and research centers worldwide to provide students with opportunities for advanced studies and internships both in Taiwan and abroad.

Through these comprehensive efforts, the ANZC aspires to keep Taiwan aligned with international trends on carbon net-zero emission. We hope that the ANZC can contribute to the development of agricultural carbon-negative technologies in Taiwan and around the world.

Rice cultivation experiments were conducted at the Ankang Experimental Farm of the university, where equipment was set up to continuously monitor soil greenhouse gas fluxes 24 hour a day.
